Romania scrambles F-16s after drone detected near Snake Island

Romania's defense ministry detected an aerial target near Snake Island early Thursday and scrambled two F-16s from Borcea Air Base 86. The incident follows repeated Russian drone activity near Romanian airspace during the Ukraine conflict, but this is a notable escalation as it triggered a rapid air response. The target's origin and intent remain unconfirmed.
