2014 Mount St. Helens seismic experiment maps magma reservoir

A 2014 experiment using 23 explosions and 3,500 seismographs imaged a magma deposit 4-15 km beneath Mount St. Helens, helping geologists trace magma origin. The study builds on the 1980 collapse and provides new structural insight into the volcano's plumbing.
