Danube water levels force 66% output reduction at Iron Gates I hydroelectric plant

Low water levels on the Danube have constrained the Iron Gates I (Porţile de Fier 1) hydroelectric facility to one-third of its 1,000 MW capacity on the Serbian side. The facility is critical for regional grid stability, providing 10% of Romania's total electricity production, and the duration of this output deficit remains uncertain.
