Turkey to Gradually Hand Over Baeshiqa Base to Iraq Under Agreed Mechanism

Turkey's Defense Ministry announced a decision to gradually transfer the Baeshiqa military base in northern Iraq to Iraqi authorities under an agreed mechanism. This marks a notable shift in Turkey's longstanding military presence in Iraq, though the timeline and conditions remain unspecified. The move could ease bilateral tensions but raises questions about the future of Turkish counterterrorism operations in the region.
