Dutchman arrested in Suriname for smuggling six songbirds

A Dutch national was arrested at Suriname's international airport for attempting to smuggle six songbirds (five twa-twas and one picolet) in checked luggage, likely destined for the Netherlands. The birds were discovered by customs and seized; the suspect sought an out-of-court settlement. This is a minor wildlife trafficking incident, notable only for its local enforcement action.
