Russian Shelling Injures Moldovan Border Guard at Ukraine Border

A Russian projectile struck near the Palanca-Maiaki-Udobnoe border crossing on October 5, 2026, injuring a Moldovan border police officer and hitting a stationary bus. This incident, confirmed by multiple sources, marks the first direct injury on Moldovan territory since the 2022 invasion, indicating a direct spillover of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The origin of the projectile is attributed to Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, though intent remains unclear.
