U.S. Marine arrested in Okinawa murder of local woman, reigniting base protests

Okinawan police arrested a U.S. Marine in connection with the murder of Anna Yagi, 39, found dead in a Naha hotel on October 3. The incident, captured on security footage, has sparked renewed anti-base sentiment on the island, historically sensitive to U.S. military crimes. The case is developing, with official charges pending and potential diplomatic fallout between Tokyo and Washington.
