CNSAS resumes investigation into SPP head Lucian Pahonțu regarding alleged political police activities

The National Council for the Study of the Securitate Archives (CNSAS) has reopened an inquiry into Lucian Pahonțu, the head of Romania's Protection and Guard Service (SPP), following investigative reports by local media. While the probe aims to determine if Pahonțu engaged in political police activities, officials acknowledge that a finding of guilt would carry no legal mechanism to remove him from his current post.
