Romania 2024 social protection spending hits 325.7 billion lei, 18.5% of GDP

Romania's social protection expenditure rose 23.2% year-on-year in 2024, reaching a decade-high 18.5% of GDP. The increase was primarily driven by pension allocations, while revenues grew by 24.7% to 323.6 billion lei.
