Norwegian NGOs seek court injunction to halt culling of genetically significant wolf

Animal rights organizations Noah and Foreningen Våre Rovdyr have filed a lawsuit in the Oslo District Court to block the state-sanctioned culling of wolf 1265. The plaintiffs allege the decision violates the Nature Diversity Act and is a result of political pressure, while the wolf has been linked to the loss of approximately 60 sheep in Gausdal. The outcome remains uncertain as the court evaluates the legality of the cull against environmental protection mandates.
