Finland expects nuclear waste disposal permit decision by October

Finland's Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) has endorsed Posiva's application for a disposal permit for spent nuclear fuel. The Minister of Environment and Climate hopes the Council of State will decide by October. This would make Finland the first country to license a deep geological repository for nuclear waste, a significant step for nuclear energy policy.
