Chile reports 22% decline in medical leave certificates through May 2026

Medical leave issuance in Chile fell by 688,000 certificates year-over-year, with mental health disorders accounting for nearly half of the reduction. The decline follows a year of intensive investigations by the Comptroller General's Office (Contraloría) into the integrity of the medical leave system.
