New eDNA method tracks invasive sunfish spread across up to 15,000 Finnish lakes

Finnish researchers are using environmental DNA (eDNA) from water samples to map the potential spread of invasive sunfish, which threaten native species. The method could identify up to 15,000 affected lakes, enabling targeted eradication efforts. This represents a novel application of eDNA technology for invasive species management.
