Filipino seafarers initiate class-action lawsuit against Dutch state over wage discrimination

A foundation representing 23,000 Filipino sailors is preparing a class-action lawsuit against the Dutch state and shipowners, alleging systemic wage discrimination. The plaintiffs challenge the 'country of residence' principle, which currently results in Filipino crew earning roughly one-fourth the hourly rate of their Dutch and German counterparts for identical work.
