Antwerp Oosterweel: Bypass to Netherlands operational, Merksem viaduct demolition begins

The temporary Bypass highway towards the Netherlands is fully operational, enabling the next phase of the Oosterweel project: demolition of the Merksem viaduct and construction of a sunken Ring road. A full closure of the Schijnpoortweg intersection is scheduled from October 1-6 for demolition work. This marks a key milestone in a major Belgian infrastructure project, with localized traffic disruption expected.
