Panama Finance Minister suspends 17 DGI officials amid tax credit irregularities

Minister Felipe Chapman has suspended 17 officials and frozen suspicious tax credits following the discovery of irregularities within the General Directorate of Revenue (DGI). The government has requested a comprehensive audit by the Comptroller's Office and plans to implement AI-driven monitoring for tax collections to mitigate future fraud.
