Mexico Shrinks Vaquita Protected Area, Accelerating Extinction Risk

Mexico's president announced a drastic reduction in the protected area for the vaquita marina, the world's rarest porpoise, undermining conservation efforts. The move reverses prior protections and likely accelerates the species' path to extinction, raising concerns about illegal fishing and enforcement. This signals a policy shift with potential reputational and trade implications for Mexico.
