US Embassy Denies NYT Report of 600 Troops Deployed to Panama Training Center

The US Embassy in Panama denied a New York Times report claiming 600 US soldiers were deployed to a new training center, clarifying that only 120 personnel are conducting jungle training and will return to the US afterward. The facility has operated for a year under bilateral cooperation. The denial suggests the NYT report may have overstated the scale or permanence of the deployment, but the discrepancy remains unresolved.
