Âmbar Energia commits R$5.5bn to Amazonas power distribution grid

Âmbar Energia, part of Grupo J&F, will invest R$5.5 billion in the Amazonas electricity distribution concession by 2031, with R$3.9 billion from its own capital and the remainder from federal transfers. The company took over the concession in April 2026 after acquiring Amazonas Energia and Roraima Energia from financially troubled Oliveira Energia. This signals a major capital commitment to a historically underfunded grid, but execution risk remains high given the region's logistical and operational challenges.
