Oil tanker Aframax Rio attacked by naval drones off Sochi, crew evacuated

A Liberian-flagged Aframax tanker, Rio, was struck by uncrewed boats in the Black Sea off Sochi on October 6, catching fire and forcing evacuation of all 23 crew. Russia's Transport Ministry attributed the attack to naval drones, marking a significant escalation in attacks on commercial shipping near Russian coast. The vessel was carrying crude from Novorossiysk to India, highlighting risks to energy supply routes.
