Evros prefecture implements forest access restrictions due to high wildfire risk

Greek authorities have restricted access to forest areas in Alexandroupoli, Samothrace, Soufli, and Didymoteicho due to a Category 3 wildfire risk rating. The measure, effective July 30, 2026, follows a directive from the Deputy Regional Governor to mitigate fire hazards in the Evros region.
