SDA awards $1.75B contract for 36 Tranche 3 missile tracking satellites

The Space Development Agency has contracted L3Harris and Sierra Space to develop 36 satellites for the Tranche 3 Tracking Layer, aimed at enhancing missile defense capabilities under the Golden Dome initiative. The satellites are scheduled for delivery by late 2028, marking a significant expansion of the U.S. space-based sensor architecture.
