Antwerp Port Scanner Failures Allow Risk Containers to Bypass Customs Controls

Customs in the port of Antwerp are unable to inspect containers due to persistent scanner malfunctions, with two of three fixed scanners and five of six mobile units out of service as of last Thursday. The trade union ACOD reports that risk containers have evaded controls for months, raising concerns about smuggling and security vulnerabilities at one of Europe's largest ports.
