Sen. Collins breaks with Trump on Iran, tariffs, fiscal plan in debate

In a debate against Democrat Troy Jackson, Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine publicly criticized President Trump's handling of the Iran conflict, tariffs on Canada, and his fiscal plan, stating 'the president did not have a good plan.' This marks a notable distancing from Trump as she seeks re-election in a state that has shown resistance to Trump's policies. The move reflects the political pressure on moderate Republicans in swing states ahead of the 2026 midterms.
