Romania delays expansion of neonatal screening program pending government formation

The Romanian Ministry of Health has suspended the legislative process to expand newborn screening from three to 19 conditions until a new government is installed. The delay leaves the country significantly behind European standards for early detection of metabolic and genetic disorders.
