NGOs warn millions of birds killed or trapped annually in Mediterranean

Four conservation NGOs issued a joint warning that millions of birds are killed or captured each year in the Mediterranean, citing ongoing illegal trapping and hunting. The claim is based on expert assessment rather than new data, and the scale is uncertain. This highlights persistent biodiversity pressures in the region, though it has no immediate market or geopolitical impact.
