New Yorker journalist Ben Taub reports from Kilis on Syria war coverage myths

American journalist Ben Taub, reporting from Kilis, Turkey, for The New Yorker, challenges Western media narratives about a celebrated hero in the Syrian conflict, suggesting the hero may be a constructed myth. The piece reflects on the realities of war journalism and the gap between media portrayals and on-the-ground truth.
