Militant attack on security checkpoint in southern Thailand results in 11 casualties

Assailants killed five security personnel and injured six civilians in a coordinated shooting and pipe bomb attack on a checkpoint. The attackers successfully seized military equipment, including AK-47 rifles and body armor, before evading capture.
