Costa Rica's Greenspan Leads UN Secretary-General Race, Gains 9 Encouragement Votes

Rebecca Greenspan, former Costa Rican vice president, has solidified her frontrunner status in the UN Secretary-General succession race, securing 9 'encouragement' votes and leading in 4 of 5 rounds since July. The outcome remains uncertain as the General Assembly vote approaches, but her consistent lead signals growing consensus among member states. This matters as the next UN chief will shape multilateral responses to ongoing crises.
