Argentine researchers reconstruct 50-million-year evolutionary history of cetaceans

A study by CONICET and the Universidad Nacional de La Plata indicates that cetacean species diversity did not consistently correlate with ecological functional variety over the last 50 million years. The findings challenge traditional assumptions regarding the relationship between taxonomic richness and niche occupation in marine mammals.
