Norwegian court rejects environmental group's bid to halt fjord mining

Sogn og Fjordane District Court dismissed two claims by Neptune Network seeking a temporary halt to Nordic Mining's operations in Førdefjorden, despite a Supreme Court ruling that the waste-discharge permit was illegal. The court ordered Neptune Network to pay 361,000 kroner in legal costs. The government has said it will not stop operations, leaving the environmental group with limited legal recourse.
