India's MRPL mandates avoidance of Hormuz and Red Sea for crude imports

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. has become the first Indian refiner to explicitly prohibit crude transit through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea in a spot tender. This shift in procurement policy reflects heightened risk aversion regarding maritime security in key energy chokepoints. It remains uncertain whether other Indian refiners will adopt similar restrictive clauses.
