French film on Vichy collaboration resonates amid 2026 political uncertainty

A new French film, 'Notre Salut', about a bureaucrat's complicity in the Vichy regime's atrocities, is drawing large audiences, with its director linking its resonance to a 'time of great uncertainty' in France. The film's modern aesthetic and anachronistic soundtrack suggest a deliberate parallel to contemporary political dynamics. This cultural moment signals potential public anxiety about authoritarian drift, though its direct political impact remains unclear.
