UK airbase scare downgraded: petrol found, no explosives in seized vehicles

Police investigating a suspected bomb plot at RAF Fairford, a US-operated airbase in southwest England, found petrol rather than explosives in vehicles seized nearby, downgrading the initial 'major incident'. The probe remains active, with the motive and intent of the vehicle occupants still unclear. The incident highlights ongoing security concerns around US military installations in the UK, though the immediate threat appears reduced.
