Ecological restoration via organic waste deposition in Costa Rica

A 1997 experiment involving the disposal of 12,000 tons of orange peels on degraded land in Costa Rica resulted in significant reforestation over 16 years. The study demonstrates the potential for large-scale organic waste to accelerate soil recovery and biomass growth in tropical environments.
