Argentine researchers develop biodegradable food packaging from cassava and yerba mate

Researchers from CONICET and UBA have created a bioplastic film derived from cassava starch and yerba mate waste that degrades within five weeks. The material is intended to replace conventional single-use plastics in food packaging, though its scalability and industrial production costs remain unverified.
