Illegal mining drives 500-hectare deforestation in Puré River region

Illegal mining operations have resulted in the loss of over 500 hectares of forest along the Puré River. Concurrently, the government issued Decree 0742 of 2026, which mandates mine closure as a compulsory phase of the project lifecycle to mitigate environmental degradation.
