IDF launches major counterterror op in Shechem on Oct 7 anniversary

On the anniversary of October 7, the IDF's Shomron Brigade conducted a large-scale operation in Shechem (Nablus), seizing weapons, destroying memorials to militants, and detaining approximately 200 Hamas activists. The operation underscores Israel's ongoing focus on West Bank threats, with the brigade commander emphasizing proactive targeting. The scale of detentions and symbolic timing signal an intensified posture, though the long-term impact on militant networks remains uncertain.
