Spain reports marginal increase in births and decline in deaths for first five months of 2026

Spain recorded 130,495 births and 191,677 deaths through May 2026, resulting in a persistent negative natural population growth. While births increased by 1,087 and deaths decreased by 1,086 compared to the same period in 2025, the demographic deficit remains significant at over 61,000 for the year-to-date.
