French Navy intercepts Russian shadow fleet tanker in Indian Ocean

French naval forces intercepted the sanctioned Russian shadow fleet tanker DF Peak (ex-Kaliningrad) in the Indian Ocean, which was sailing under a false Benin flag. The vessel is sanctioned by the U.S., EU, Switzerland, Canada, and Japan. This marks a notable enforcement action against sanctions evasion, though the outcome and broader impact on Russian oil exports remain uncertain.
