UK Tories propose 'Britannia Shield' air-defense system modeled on Israel's Iron Dome

The UK Conservative Party has proposed building a 'Britannia Shield', a domestic air-defense system inspired by Israel's Iron Dome, which intercepts short-range rockets up to 70km. The proposal signals a shift toward homeland missile defense in UK defense policy, though details on cost, timeline, and capability remain unspecified. This is a political pledge rather than a funded program, so its near-term impact is limited.
