Australian Greens leader Waters resigns on health grounds; successor vote next week

Larissa Waters is stepping down as leader of the Australian Greens due to a significant decline in her pre-existing kidney disease, with a party-room ballot for her successor expected next week. The resignation triggers a leadership transition within a minor federal party, but does not alter the government's parliamentary arithmetic. The development is notable for its impact on the Greens' internal dynamics and potential policy positioning ahead of the next election.
