Enceladus salt crystals may preserve biosignatures, enabling surface sampling

New experimental results indicate that salt crystals ejected from Enceladus' subsurface ocean can preserve organic biosignatures, potentially allowing detection of life traces without deep drilling. The finding is based on laboratory simulations, not direct observation, and its applicability to actual Enceladus plume material remains uncertain. This advances the case for surface sampling missions to the moon.
