Irish study links poor teacher relations to worsened poverty impact on students

ESRI research finds that negative teacher-student relationships can amplify the educational disadvantages associated with poverty, suggesting a need for better teacher training on disadvantage and diversity. The finding is based on Irish data and is not yet corroborated by other studies. It matters for education policy and social mobility in Ireland.
